Gabriella took over the management of the Robert Bruce Agency after the unexpected passing, in March 2009, of Robert, her partner in life and business. A professional actress for sixteen years, Gabriella has reconnected with the acting community and has quickly found a real kinship.
Even as a child Gabriella was an enthusiastic speech and drama student. A fledgling career with Auckland's New Independent Theatre was overtaken by her first husband's corporate postings, which took them to Australia and Europe. Training at WAAPA in Perth led to a solid six years as a 'jobbing actor' in Melbourne; then six years in Holland: commuting to regular work in London, and a professionally rewarding time with the Stalhouderij Theatre Company, Amsterdam’s English language theatre. In Holland Gabriella also started teaching, produced a tour of “Duet For One” and first became involved in screen production. An encounter with breast cancer brought her back to New Zealand for treatment. That experience triggered a new perspective. Although television work beckoned (Shortland St, Xena/Hercules, Duggan) Gabriella focused her energies on screen production, and built a company specialising in non-broadcast health promotion and patient information.
Now the wheel has come full circle. Gabriella is particularly keen to nurture emerging talent, and to further extend the international presence of the Agency.
